Puerto Aventuras is a gated community situated between Playa del Carmen and Tulum. It has a full service marina and a central commercial area that surrounds a dolphin lagoon. For such a small community, it’s amazing how many great restaurants there are to choose from. Here are some of my favourites.
If you’re hungry, the Hippo restaurant is my “go-to” place in Puerto Aventuras when I am with clients or friends. The menu is varied, the portions are large and the staff is friendly. It’s also a spot to watch your favourite team or sit back and listen to some live entertainment. Oh, I almost forgot. Breakfast there is awesome.
Girafe is also a relatively new addition to local Puerto restaurants. It’s situated on the dolphin lagoon and offers a great menu that includes vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. It specializes in various Mexican fare and has some great seafood options. It’s the number 2 ranked restaurant in the area, so it’s not to be missed.
Looking for Italian food? Casa Sofia is a good choice. It’s a small chain but the Puerto location on the lagoon goes out of their way to make your visit special. You can order one of their specialty pizzas and have the option to pick your pasta and add your favourite sauce. My personal observation is that the service in Puerto Aventuras is much better than the sister restaurant in Playa del Carmen.
Are you hoping for a meal with a view? Head to the restaurant at Puerto Aventuras Hotel and Beach Club. The menu is pretty standard but you can’t beat the beautiful views of Fatima Bay and the Caribbean Sea. There’s something really relaxing about a meal with a beautiful view.
These are just four of the many choices for dining in Puerto Aventuras. As a relatively new resident, I am looking forward to trying Pelican Point, Latitude 20 and O Solo Mio. One thing about Puerto Aventuras, there are always great choices for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Bon Appetit to all.
